Model Context Protocol Gateway
A custom Model Context Protocol gateway connecting autonomous AI agents directly to internal microservice APIs, with schema generation, guardrails and full invocation logging.
~30% fewer manual developer lookups
The problem
Agents are only as useful as the data they can reach. Without a safe path to internal services, every question an agent could not answer became a developer interrupt: someone digging through a service, running a query, and pasting the result back. The obvious shortcut, giving an agent raw database access, is not something you ship to production.
How it works
- A secure endpoint proxy that maps internal APIs to typed MCP tools an LLM orchestrator can call.
- Dynamic schema generation, exposing database structure to agents in a shape that is safe to read and impossible to over-reach.
- Rate limiting and guardrails keeping agent activity inside valid operational bounds, per tool and per caller.
- Invocation logging and monitoring, so every agent action is attributable and reviewable after the fact.
What changed
Manual developer lookups and the context-switching around them fell by roughly 30%. The bigger structural win was making agent access a reviewable surface: adding a capability became a deliberate act of exposing one more typed tool, rather than widening a blanket permission.
