Decentralized Property Records Platform

A property management dApp built on Solidity smart contracts with a Node.js and MongoDB backend, aimed at bringing transparent, tamper-proof record keeping to public-sector property transactions.

Why it exists

Local property-record management in the public sector is largely undigitised, and where it is digitised it often runs on systems no one can audit. That undermines the credibility of the record itself: if an entry can be changed without a trace, the register stops being evidence of anything.

What we built

  • Immutable, on-chain audit logs for every property record change, so history is append-only by construction.
  • Role-based access separating citizens, registrars and administrators, with permissions enforced at the contract level.
  • File verification and record-filing workflows modelled on how public-sector offices actually process a transaction.

What I took from it

This was my first time leading a small team end to end: scoping the work, splitting the contract and backend tracks, and holding the interface between them stable enough that both sides could move. The technical lesson that stuck: on-chain guarantees are only worth what the off-chain ingestion path is worth, which is the same problem I came back to years later in my M.Sc. research on RAG data integrity.
